I am thinking that mon ami is when you are addressing one person, and mais ami when you are addressing more than one, but I am not sure.

"Mais" means "but" in french, I think you mean "mes"

"Mon ami" My friend (singular masculine)

"Mon amie" My friend (singular femenine)

Normally, when referring to a femenine subject you would use "ma", but this word is an exception, you use "mon" for both boys and girls

That's in singular, for the plural we have

"Mes amis" My friends (plural masculine)

"Mes amies" My friends (plural femenine)

good luck!

You're right-ish!!! "Mon ami" is "My friend" (male) but there's no such thing as "Mais ami" -"Mais" means "But." It's "MES AMIS" you mean (you add the s at the end of 'ami' to indicate the plural) which is many friends, either just males or males and females together. If you were to say "Mes AMIES" that would refer to a gathering of girlfriends exclusively.

Bonne chance!!!

Mon is singular for My, but it's masculine.

Mes ("mais" means but) is when you have more than one. Bunch of girls and one buy, it's still masculine.
