There are numerous advantages of learning English because it's international language.
However, I'm trying to find disadvantages of learning English for my personal project. For example, Extinction of Language could be one of the big problems of globalization of English. What else?
I know it's hard to find, but Could you please tell me what are disadvantages of learning English?

You get the dubious distinction of speaking the same language as President Bush!

(It IS English he's speaking......right?!)

This is a really hard question. You give into the Americans?

Most Americans are not even bilingual. I would love to be multilingual but it is very hard to really learn another language unless you live in a country where it is spoken regularly and often. I've studied Spanish and French formally. I've studied Italian on my own. I'd love to study Arabic but I think that would be even harder because it seems so different from English and the latin based languages.

English is a very hard language to learn. I commend anyone for even attempting it. It is time consuming so maybe other areas of life will possibly be neglected?

There is never a disadvantage of learning another language. Like the famous quote by Charlemagne, King of the Franks, "When you learn another language, you gain another soul." If you're asking about the difficulties of learning English, I think the main problem with learning English compared to other languages is that it has a lot of exceptions and slang that you really have to just learn from experience and not just a set of rules to remember.

Disadvantages:

1) For non-native users, they spend comparatively more time in acquiring English and thus comparatively less time for their native language so the proficiency in the native language weakens because of the learning of English.

2) Some people use a mixture of English and their native language when they speak. For example Spanglish (Spanish + English). This is actually due to the inflexibility of the brain to separate the 2 languages so it thinks semi-English and semi-native way. This hinders higher order mastery of English.
