Is there more than one way to say Soul in Spanish?

I read from one translator that "soul" is actually one way to say soul in Spanish. Is there more than one way to say Soul (besides Alma)? And if so, what does each form mean specifically (like why are there different words for the same word in English?)

and some words do have different words like the word "gay" in spanish it can be marica,maricon,gueco,homosexual and so on ( btw this are some of the ways the word "gay" is said in different spanish speaking countries)



and in english it can mean homosexual or a feeling of being happy
