Has anyone ever heard of the Claudian letters? I was looking at them and was curious about the reversed C. I sounds like it was not used very long. What did it mean?

The reversed C was meant to replace BS or PS. It must have been intended as a Roman equivalent of the Greek 'psi'. If it had taken root, a word like 'ipse' would be written 'iↄe'.

A reversed C was also used in early Roman numerals in the representation of numbers in the 100's from 500 up.
