....to point out their error...thy're reported?

In the last couple of days there have been titles like..."Help me pleeezzzee"... Posted on the languages site...which turn out to be silly trite questions about some girl fancying a boy etc.
I bothered to point out that the 'languages' site was not the correct place to post these types of question...but guess what? It.s my answer that got reported.
Why is it always the 'languages' site that these silly questions get posted to...and why aren't we allowed to educate these people to try to select the correct category for their questions?
Check the 'languages' questions for the last few days and you'll see what I mean...the titles are always bizarre..."Help.....please!" Etc etc

I totally agree. And the ones who post their entire homework - but the answerer gets reported for pointing out that they are cheating and should do it themselves. Yahoo need to get a grip - but how do you even get through to them!

yes it often happens that here in Yahoo Answer there are questions which are silly or that don't have any sense.. if the category is Languages, it is obvious that questions have to be about languages, pronounces, for example, or something like those, but I guess it is obvious that some people don't understand what seems obvious to us, or... they just aren't able to read... or categorize questions...

what I really don't understand is that your answers has been reported and not her silly question.. it has no sense... but what I see is that the questions on here are always sillier and not serious, and it ooften happens that people answer bad at the questions... if someone doesn't feel like answering, it is better if not answer, not answer just to get the two points, am I right?

i might opt to think of this is through fact the Language section has a tendency to have the main powerful purchasers :) Kidding aside, I do agree that folk might desire to categorize their questions greater effectual. not basically will it help save the question muddle to a minimum, inspite of the undeniable fact that it additionally will help make certain that the asker gets as many clever solutions as available from people who (might) surely comprehend what they're speaking approximately. there is somewhat not a lot we are in a position to do different than to maintain reminding purchasers to authentic categorize their questions. and prefer the 1st submit suggested, this is stressful as quickly as we get violation e-mails for only suggesting that purchasers carry on with Y!A's talk board shape yet oh nicely. For me individually, this is basically a minor inconvenience. I merely supply suggestion on each occasion i can and forget pertaining to to the questions that are out of my sphere of competence.

Even when somebody asks a vague question, and you ask for more context, it can be seen as "chat" and will be reported, as I experienced recently ... Even telling people who ask questions in another language that they should repeat the question in English, can get you reported ... I didn't had that problem a year ago.

It's Y/A's automatic allocator....for some reason, known only to themselves, they seem to divert any title with 'help me pleeeze!!!!'...or such sillyness straight into 'languages' (I think it should go to that silly site "polls and surveys" but that's my opinion). The problem is that some of these people are too thick or lazy to realise that it's simple to disregard the suggestion and choose the correct category.

It's not illegal to post in the wrong category..it's incometence..and someone pointing this out shouldn't be reported...that's just petty!!

Thumb-downer...hmmm....are you one of the lazy ones mayhaps?

Two things:

It's not a violation to post a question in the wrong section. Often it's down to Y!A's automatic category allocator. Check out the guideline:

=quote=

Is it a violation to put my question in the wrong category?

"We know that mistakes sometimes happen and miscategorization of a question is not automatically considered a violation"

=unquote=

However, it *is* a violation to post a reply that doesn't answer the question (e.g. "This is the wrong category").

=quote=

"When you post an answer, it must attempt to answer the question being asked"

=unquote=

If a question pains you, either report it (if it's actually reportable) or ignore it and move on.
