People in America speak English, just with a different accent and some spelling and vocabulary differences than they do in Great Britain.

And it's not Great England, it's Great Britain or the United Kingdom; it consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland --not France and Norway.

No, the language in America is still English. It may have words that are pronounced or spelled differently, but so do the many different dialects in England. They are still speaking English. Harry Potter will have a few words spelled differently, such as "mum", but everything else will be exactly the same. In fact, this is a remarkably idiotic question to ask.

Of course people in England speak English! And Americans speak English, not American ('American' is not a language).

You are not American born, I suspect. Americans don't say, "I speak American". We say, " I speak English."

The French speak French. Harry Potter has an American English version of the books and the British movies are subtitled in American..(the previous sentence is purposefully sarcastic)

Americans speak english, so do English people. Sure, everybody has

their own slang, but it's the same thing. Also, with Harry potter u can't tell it's not American. Mostly.

Ok.

First, we in America DO speak English. There is no language called "American".

Second, the language is named for the country. Why wouldnt they speak ENGLISH in ENGLAND?

Third, you do speak English. Remember, there is no such language called "american".

Yes. Their accent and some words/spellings might be different. It is among the few countries in which an American can visit and understand its native tongue.
