I found this on someone's bumper sticker on a car and became curious as to what it means. I am pretty sure it is Latin. So that leads me to ask what does "Vox clementis in deserto" mean, ala what does it translate to in English? Thank you in advance if you can answer my question.

It should be "Vox clamantis in deserto" - it's Latin for "The voice of one crying out in the wilderness".

If it is Vox clementis in deserto , it can be translated as ' the voice of someone kind ( mild, good ...etc ) in a desert' if it is Vox clamantis it is 'the voice of someone crying ( or calling for someone ) in a desert'

Vox clamantis in deserto …. A voice crying out in the wilderness… (the voice of one crying out in the wilderness) Its the motto for Dartmouth College probably the person attended school there .. I believe you can find it on Wiki if you look up Dartmouth College … Deserto derives from Desolate not Desert ( desert also drives from that root )

I think it means: "A mild voice in the desert". However, "clementis" is the genitive, so it might also mean "a voice of the mild in the desert" - or it might be semi-gibberish, something like "a voice of mild (mild being an adjective here) in the desert".

It is from the Bible, a reference to a passage from Isaiah:

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

-- Isaiah 40: 1-3 (KJV)

I think that it's:

'Cry indulgence upon to leave'
