Apparently he cannot. I don't know why people would say he is the greatest orator lol Great orators should be able to deliver moving speeches without a script handy...Anyways, I think it is funny when reporters say they couldn't see obama because his teleprompter was in the way.

Erlampo: I don't know why you had to throw TX in your rant as an insult. Not all Texans are like Bush.

Randy: I think it is the fact that he ALWAYS needs a teleprompter that has peope talking about this. I don't think they are trying to be mean purposely.Using a teleprompter is not a new thing, but using it at every speech is.

It amazes me that this "teleprompter" nonsense has actually gotten any feet.

Some teleprompter pictures:

From top to bottom, Ronald Reagan, John McCain, George W, Sean Hannity (you need a teleprompter to say "I'm Sean Hannity"?), Fred Thompson (I think), Sara Palin and Bill O'Reilly.

The talk show people spreading this idiocy know we have plenty of town halls, press conferences, interviews, debate footage and other extemporaneous moments to put this one to rest. So it's deliberate distortion of the record.

You've seen him speak in press conferences. You saw him trash McCain in the debates without his teleprompter, so the answer is obviously yes. We get it. You don't like him. We don't care. His approval ratings have been consistently in the mid to low sixties, so it seems most people don't share this concern.

Everyone has their moments when they speak better or worse. tiredness has a lot to do with this.

He remains one of the best speakers in modern times, no doubt. I certainly would hate ot have the weight of the world that he shoulders, on me.

That is one of the reasons I was not too critical of the bushisms because it is hard being in the spotlight virtually 24/7 and always needing a timely response.

public speaking is not easy evne the greatest minds would have a difficult time with it, I consider myself pretty spiffy but I've had near breakdowns presenting in front of class.. iive literally ended a presentation.. with "ummmm mm aaaaahhhhsss and some other weird noise lik shabang"

jaja. its not easy, and I am an over analyzer ... I come up with 4 or 5 alterantives to what I'm gonna say *seriously

so actually thinking TOO much is my perogative.

He uses the aaaas and uummmm to collect his thoughts, not because he is at loss of words.

Why are you and other so hung up on the teleprompter?

Bush could not speak with or without the teleprompter, and even with the teleprompter his vocabulary was limited and he had trouble pronouncing words.

Exactly. He can READ off other peoples speeches very well and come off intelligent. Unfortunately, many people don't realize that he didn't even write his own speeches and that is why they come off as so articulate.

When he doesn't have a prepared speech or a teleprompter that is when all of his mumbling comes out.

For the most par, Obama speaks very well extemporaneously; a far cry from the mumbling, grammar-defying, logic-destroying Texas boob who preceded him.

Sorta like when Bush said "fool me once shame on you fool me twice... uh .. uh.. uh.. we don't get fooled again".. yeah we have eloquent speakers here in America don't we?

He doesn't need a teleprompter, he's already a good enough liar by himself.

Actually, his actions worry me far more than his words...
