I have a story/summary about the French movie ' Les Choristes'. If there are people who speak French, and have some time to help me, it would be AMAZING if you could help me translate this! I know it's a very long story, but it would mean so much to me!!! Thanks in advance!!
The movie starts with an old man, later an old friend called Pépinot arrives at his door with a diary. It is the diary of their teacher, Mathieu, and they read it together.
In France in Clément Mathieu, arrives at the Fond de l'Etang, a boarding school for "difficult" boys. At the gate he sees a young child, Pépinot, who is waiting for Saturday, which is when his father is supposed to come for him. Pépinot had been told that his parents were dead, but he always believed that his father would come back on a Saturday.
In his first week at the school, Mathieu discovers the boys being ruthlessly punished by the headmaster Rachin. Mathieu attempts to use humour and kindness to win them over..
Mathieu is a musician and one night he discovers the boys singing rude songs about him.
Mathieu forms a plan - he will teach them to sing, and form a choir. One student, Morhange, refused to sing. He caught Morhange singing to himself one day and discovers that Morhange has a wonderful singing voice. Mathieu awards him solo parts on the condition that he behave.
One day, Morhange's mother arrives at the school. Mathieu goes down to explain that Morhange cannot be visited because he has been locked up as a punishment after writing rude notes about the headmaster, and he finds himself and attracted to his mother. He tells her Morhanghe is at the dentist.
Then a "perverted" boy named Mondain has arrived at the school, and begins causing trouble, he bullies other kids, and steals, and he smokes in class. He got locked up for 15 days after stealing a watch.
Mathieu notices that things are getting bette - the choir is improving and the children are happier.
Mondain is released but he runs away from the school and at the same time, the school’s money disappears. Rachin beats Mondain, and then hands him over to the police, but they have still not found the money yet.
Soon they get to know that Corbin stole the money that Mondain was accused of stealing. However, Rachin refuses to accept Mondain back at the school.
Mathieu continues to meet Morhange's mother and tells her he wants to help Morhange to win a scholarship to the music conservatoire in Lyon. Morhange’s mother doesn’t know Mathieu likes her.
Later, Rachin claims the choir was his idea, and the children start performing.
One day Mathieu takes the boys into the forest, but while they are gone, Mondain burns the school.
Though Mathieu saved the boy’s lives, he is fired. The boys aren’t allowed to say good bye to Mathieu, so when he leaves they throw paper planes out of the window with messages.
Mathieu is waiting for his bus after being fired. Pépinot was running after him, he wanted to come with Mathieu but he said he was not allowed to. At the end he still takes him with him and he leaves the school – on a Saturday.
Morhange won his scholarship to the conservatory, and the headmaster, Rachin, was fired for his brutal discipline. Mathieu continued to give music lessons quietly for the rest of his life.
