Latin translation help?
I'm translating a Latin story over into English and I can't figure out this sentence. "In numero virorum antiquorum est Cincinnatus." I could get "Cincinnatis is" and then I get a tad confused. "in men of old's number?"

That's because you didn't follow instructions from your previous posting of the same question.

Don't translate "in virorum" and "numero antiquorum" - it doesn't agree.

"in numero"

and then

"virorum antiquorum"

antiquus, here, better translates as 'illustrious'

also, "in numero esse" is a phrase; check it in your dictionary

The translations you have gained are absolute rubbish. that's what you get once you utilize online translators. I consistently warning human beings against getting a tattoo in a language they have never studied. there could be subtleties of which potential you do not understand, or the translation will possibly not capture the which potential you're searching for. additionally, any persons are able to coming up a mistake or typo, which will then replace into everlasting on your physique. ultimately, there are various how you are able to translate even an common word or sentence. proceed at your guy or woman danger. here is my translation: ubi verba deficiunt, cantus loquuntur the place (or whilst) words fail, songs talk. returned, i advise you to not get it tattooed on your physique, rather with the aid of fact my Latin is somewhat rusty.

That's one of the things that Latin expresses differently from English. For example:

Marcum in numero amicorum habeo.

I have Mark in the number of friends.

Mark is among my friends.

Mark is one of my friends.

For the time being, keep your translations close to literal. Unless your teacher has said otherwise, of course!

It's something like Cincinnatus is numbered among the men of old, or Cincinnatus is counted as one of the ancients.
