I am not doing it for a job or any specific cultural reasons, I have just taken an interest in them. Basically from this list which language would you choose to learn (any reason)?

you'd better choose a language that is widely useful for you. persian also known as farsi is widely spoken. with pashto you can speak in afghanistan & pakistan while you speak there with persian too. before 1832 persian was the second langugage of india so it affected on indian , as a result with learning persian you can learn simply indian.

i hope you choose persian

In my opinion, all these languages are great for government related jobs. However, Persia is modern day Iran and their language is called Farsi, which is the same as Persian.

I say Turkey for a number of reasons. The first, amongst all those countries you have listed, Turkey is the most liberal and democratic so traveling, living, or conducting any sort of business is no issue.

On the other hand, Iran is a different story. The Middle East is in constant turmoil. Iran is relatively safe but is not a country to where foreigners should live. Same thing can be said about Saudi Arabia.

Those countries are a theocracy. I am a Westerner who lives by a Democratic code. I support liberty. My opinion.

The ones worth learning are Turkish and Malay. Most people who speak Malay speak great English so it´s not worth the effort. I´d go with Turkish since Turkey is an emerging power nowadays with a booming economy and a huge population.

Maybe Malay/Indonesian... It's spoken by a huge number of people (250 million) and once you know them, many of the languages spoken in the Philippines will be realtively easy. AND it's written in completely Latin script, no umlauts or "Is without dots", unlike Turkish.

I would choose Turkish out of the list. It has the latin alphabet and it has some good tourist destinations that I would like to visit.

Turkish is an interesting language. You also have an advantage that the Turks use the Latin alphabet and that makes your learning much faster.

I would recommend Persian because it's my mother tongue and easy to learn according to what non-natives say.
