What is the meaning of "la la land" ?

what do people mean when they say they are in la la land?
where is it? how do i get there? and how is the weather there?

I've always wondered that, but I notice that people always say that when someone's mind is just wondering. I've never actually seen la la land myself.

Originally it referred to Hollywood, California, land of the fruits, nuts and drug addicts at the time the phrase was coined. Hollywood is fantasy so it went world-wide to refer to being out there. Since you would be the director, the weather is up to you and you could base it on a comparison to the Southern California statistics you can Google, Yahoo or Ask dot com.
