Which Arabic dialect is closest to MSA?

I understand that the pure form of MSA ist not used in the day-to-day-language of Arabic speakers, but only in the TV-News or in written language etc. And that the people speak regional dialects, which are very different from each other. Is there any dialect which is quite close to MSA? And which ones, in your opinion, are the most beautiful and the most "ugly" (if I may say so)?

Usually the dialects in Qatar and the UAE are cited as closest to MSA. I've never studied those dialects, so I can't confirm that. These may also be rumors started by the vast use of MSA in Qatar and the UAE, and that people outside these countries usually hear Qataris and UAE citizens speaking in MSA.



The most beautiful is the Syrian dialect (which includes the Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian dialects).



The ugliest I've heard is Sudanese. I'm not much of a fan of Egyptian either.

You mean Standard Arabic,yes u are right we dont use standard arabic when speaking,we only use it when reading and writting,i dont really know if there is a dialect close to standard arabic,i know the ugliest dialect is,Saudi Arabian,Tunis,Morroco



And the most beautiful dialect is the Lebanese Dialect,am not saying it beacuz im Lebanese but becuz its the most understanding dialect and smoothest dialect from all others,Syrian,Palestine and Jordan are similar and understanding too.

the Egyptian dialect is the best one then the Syrian and Lebanese. believe me, if you come to Egypt, you will learn Arabic so fast because we have the best schools for teaching foreigners the Arabic as a second language.
