What is the nuance and subtlety of "Dont be shy?"?

when I get a one on one English session , sometimes,I cannot respond to thacher's queations qiuckly because I 'm thinking about how do I express that with my poor vocaburaly.
I believe myself I'm noy shy ,it's just I'm at a loss for words. but , a teacher always say "dont be shy" to me. specifically what does this mean? my English is not enough to follow its nuance and subtlety.

There is no nuance or subtlety involved in that. Your teacher is NOT able to understand you and she WRONGLY interprets that you are shy but you are not being shy, you are just at a loss of which words to pick, it's ok, it takes time for the brain to think of words when a language is not good and you are learning that language.



You need to tell the teacher clearly that you are not shy to speak, it's just that you can't think of words too quickly . Please make it clear to avoid further misunderstanding. She may deal with you in a better way then.
