Read a lot - and read what interests you the most. It may be films, fashion, sports or news magazine or even comics to start with but intensive reading is first requisite to improve spoken or written English. Then you must cultivate the habit of communicating with your friends in English - even if it is in broken of grammatically incorrect English. Once you come over initial hesitation you will get a grip of it.

I have not surfed the web about your question. What I can advice you is to do a lot of reading in English - newspapers, magazines, books and to have a dictionary and thesaurus on hand so that you can look for the meaning of difficult words or words that you have encountered for the first time. A popular adage says "Practice makes perfect." Put this into practice by talking in English when you are with friends or office mates. Be frank with them. Tell them to correct your English and do not be offended when they do. Write, write. write in English. Write to friends, relatives, acquaintances in your country and abroad. Write in English even to yourself. Write essays or short passages. If you are from a non-English speaking country, do translations of articles in your native tongue to English and vice-versa.

To improve any language, including English, it is necessary to build a good vocabulary of the language. Of course, grammar & style of a particular language is equally important, but it is more important to convey to the listners/ audience what we want to say to them. And for this purpose we need a rich vocabulary- which can be increased by adding as much new words and phrases as possible on a regular basis. From this point of view, any and every website in English language may proove helpful for you. Please note, this is one of the ways of improving your language skills.

A good idea is to join a chat room and start talking to some English people in it. That's what I tried when I was learning French and it really helped :) try the yahoo chat rooms as you're already here!

I don't know of any website. The best way to improve your English is to use it as much as possible. Read and write English as often as you can. Consider getting a pen friend/pen pal - it might encourage you to practice writing. Good luck!
