I've been chatting with a woman online for more than a year. She told her English wasn't very good because she was a high school graduate. Then I began to teach her some of the words that I learned in high school. Even though she didn't understand some of the words, I have to define them so she could understand what I'm saying. Then she wanted me to teach it to her slowly. How can this be done?

Before you attempt to teach someone a language, you should make sure you know that language well enough to teach it. Your question, for example, should be written as something like "How do I teach a Filipina how to improve her English fluency?"

You could redirect her to some ESL (English as a Second Language) sites, blogs, books or other materials. You can also tell her to attend an English class, which won't be hard to find, seeing as how English is one of the Philippines' official languages. Another good way to help her learn is to continue to speak to her in English. The more she practices speaking, reading, writing and listening to English, the faster she'll pick it up.

If you're going to send her vocabulary words, you need to make sure she knows how to use them. Translating them to Tagalog doesn't always provide the exact same meaning as in English, plus it's hard to retain vocabulary if you don't actually use it to construct proper sentences. Your best bet would be to follow the lessons outlined in ESL resources, as they're structured specifically to meet the needs of people who do not speak English fluently.

Chintu, Learning any language takes time endurance and perseverance train. For something to upgrade to your English be round humans who're English If you may have a library that presents English publications I might take them If you talk one other language then English might be a moment language or ESL ( English as a moment language. ) Also while finding out a language vocabulary is emphasised so is grammar pronunciation punctuation Listen to song and speeches which can be English use an English dictionary learn English books.

there are english lessons on youtube that may be helpful

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohJCdihPWqc

then you ask her questions about her favorites, likes, dislikes, if she has any pets, etc

then translate those words to english for her

send her a list of 25 new words every week to study

then one day while you are IM-ing

you say the word in tagalog and ask her to reply with the same word in english
