a person was arguing with me that sanskrit is older than tamil which was incorrcet since i found the same person himself admitting that sanskrit is not as old as tamil and also tamil is more rich in tradition and its literature and culture . also tamil has its own civilisation parallel to greek , roman , egypt ,hebrew , etc . i found that tamil had come across different era and is capable of withstading many changes unlike sanskrit . a language scholar descibed me how old it is than the hebrew , egypt , greek & roman and also added that tamil still have lot of proofs for its everlasting characteristics which is still remaining uncovered . but tehre are mqany proofs for tamil that have already been discovered .

Yes Tamil is as old as Sanskrit, if not older. However it is not easily accepted in India, other than in Tamil Nadu. It is sad that in most parts of India it is taught that Sanskrit is the mother of all Indian languages. There is an interesting tale of a Tamil Brahmin lady, born in Karanataka and educated in Delhi had to learn about Tamil’s antiquity in America (where she went to do her PhD). This lady is Professor Sumathi Ramaswamy and she describes this in her book “Passions of the tongue”.

Anyways: Tamil’s antiquity has been proven on academic circles. I am giving three links in the sources section, one from an American, second from Europe (Czech) and third from a non-Tamil Indian. I have deliberately avoided Tamils to avoid bias. If all these educated scholars agree that Tamil is at least as old as Sanskrit, and a bunch of politicians outside Tamil Nadu don’t ; I would rather leave it for the educated minds to decide.

Having said this: Being born as a Tamil is a blind luck and hence there is no reason to be proud about. This pseudo-pride will only lead to complacence. I would rather be proud of my own achievements.

Edit: Could the people who give me thumbs down prove me wrong scientifically? If they are not ready to face the facts, all I can do is to feel sorry for the pitiable souls.

Yes. Tamil is the OLDEST LANGUAGE STILL IN EXISTENCE. Sanskrit came only after Tamil. Pranava Veda, which was the First Veda written was written in Tamil. It is Older than Rig Veda. From Germany, after spending much time in India on Research of Martial Arts, Linguistical Arts and History, I can prove that Tamil is the Oldest Language still alive. I am writing a Blogspot on how Tamil is the Oldest Language. Will send you the link also very soon. AS OF THE TRUTH, NO VEDAS WERE WRITTEN IN SANSKRIT. THEY WERE WRITTEN IN TAMIL. AFTER THE ARYAN INVASION, WHEN THESE INDO-ARYANS SAW THAT THE TAMIL PEOPLE LACKED PATRIOTISM OF RELIGIOUS VIEWS AND ALWAYS MAINTAINED A VERY SECULAR HISTORY TILL THE RECENT PAST, THIS BECAME AN ADVANTAGE FOR THEM AND THEY LEARNT TAMIL LANGUAGE FROM THE TAMIL PEOPLE AND TRANSLATED ALL THE 4 VEDAS THAT WERE DISCOVERED AT THAT TIME AND BURNT THE ORIGINAL TAMIL PALM LEAF MANUSCRIPTS. ONLY THE RECENT DISCOVERY OF THE OLDEST VEDA CALLED "PRANAVA VEDA" WAS FOUND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT TAMIL IS THE OLDEST LANGUAGE STILL IN EXISTENCE. THIS FACT IS NOT ACCEPTED IN INDIA BECAUSE THAT THE BRAHMINS DOMINATE THEIR COUNTRY. HERE IS THE DISCOVERY LINK TO THIS OLDEST VEDA AND WHAT EVEN A BRAHMIN ACCEPTS OF TAMIL AS THE OLDEST LANGUAGE ALIVE.

Even today, there are a group of people from Africa in Cameroon speak OLD TAMIL (Tamil used in Tamil Nadu is Modern Tamil and that of Sri Lanka is Sen - Tamil)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWyAYGlFZjk

This language spread to Africa also during the time when there was a Tamil Continent called Lemuria or Kumari Kandam. It was made as a hypothesis by the Brahmins in order to gain more popularity for their language, Sanskrit. That is why even today India does not give permission for Archeological Research under waters. Else, these facts would have a concrete evidence that Tamil was and is the oldest language still alive.

Hope this helps. Spread these Facts...!!!

HEBREW IS AS OLD AS TAMIL, THEY BOTH HAVE SAME CHARACTERS, LIKE ONLY IF YOU KNOW THE WORD CAN YOU BE ABLE TO READ THE SCRIPTS, ELSE YOU CANNOT. SANSKRIT IS NOT LIKE THAT...!!!

I have a question if tamil Is derived from sanskrit then tamil must have the same or similar or matching scripts like sanskrit like how hindi and other north Indian language do. But tamil has a entirely different type of script when compared to sanskrit. So to the truth Sanskri belongs to aaryans but according to historic records aaryans got there knowledge from dravidas, were dravidas are navi tamil speaking ppl. And for ur information Ramayana is the oldest epic and in Ramayana, the ravana the srilankan king is a tamil king, and last information Ramayana took place in the 3rd tamil sangam, so according to historic records ter are 4tamil sangams and the first two were before the great flood, and now we are in the fourth tamil sangam, so as per logic after the flood srilankan got separated from other lands by water so lord Ram has to build a bridge yo save his wife sita, were the bridge Is found now by our satellites.

Thankyou

Do not get confused...... it is Tamil only.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dravidian_languages… ...................... Tamil is the root for all Dravidian Languages, Later Sanskrit got mixed. Again Sanskrit was not born in India. It was brought by Aryans.....

Also have a look at the below URL.

My source is not only from wikipedia, i involved in the Indian languages research from 2004.

Tamil evolved from Dravid. Sanskrit is older because it is a Classical language, preserved in writing(a few speak it). Dravid is probably older than Sanskrit, because Sanskrit is an Indo-European language, whereas Dravid is an isolate. However, we cannot say for sure which is oldest, but in this case, Tamil is a newer language than Sanskirt.

Oh the funny little linguistic frogs of Tamil Nadu. I speak Tamil so do people in my family. But we are naturalized immigrants in Karnataka over 3 to 4 generations ago. I speak Kannada, Tamil, English, Hindi, Kannada, Arabic, Hebrew & Urdu....

Proven fact Sanskrit is older than Tamil thats what we here in Karnataka nay rest of India consider and learn but I have no idea about what the sensation news writers, propaganda creators, senile old politicians inside Tamil Nadu make people believe and think like frogs in well that Tamil is the best and it is the greatest and its people are tom **** and harry.
