I am doing a translation. I wonder how to address the wife of a man in low status in Enlgish. I know in English, "Mrs." can apply to the wife of a man both in high and in low status. But in the language I am translating, "Mrs." is a noble word and can apply to the wife of a man in high status. They address the wife of a man in low status as if she were just a piece of furniture in the house. I wonder whether "somebody's household" is a good translation in English.

I don't know whether I'd call it a good translation but if you said it to some of the women I know, it would be certainly entertaining.

It is still Mrs. the word doesn't change depending on the status of the man.

In what language are you translating? Mrs. (or an equivalent) is about the lowest title one can use. Is this about an untouchable?
