New Written Language Style?

Assuming you had absolutely no knowledge of the written word, Would it be easier to learn to read this text form than the type we use now:

It would include roughly forty differnt glyphs, each of a different picture. Each symbol would be pronounced the same way that the first letter in its name is. Some letters can be pronounced in many different ways (especially vowels) this is why there are more than twenty-six glyphs. All words would be spelled phoenentically.

So what do you think? I figure that you could learn it faster than cursive writing. This is because the sounds actually relate to the runes. You could logically figure things out if you had at least a little experiance.

I think this has been tried before with bad results. The method you describe may be easier but it lacks the ability to relate more complex sounds. To offer a different rune or symbol for each sound you would actually need more letters than we currently have. Think of the combinations we have like TH, SH, CH not to mention the mulitple sounds per vowel. Yes, it would make everything phoenetic but there would be so many runes to learn that it would be very difficult to master.

That is a concept to consider!

What, with society and many cultures leaning (back) toward hieroglyphics, that could be an option to change communication-styles and techniques.

BUT, because of the fact that societies cannot (or, actually REFUSE) to conform, that will be quite a daunting task to attempt in an "educational" setting.

You've obviously put a lot of thought into this. I'm impressed. It sounds like an interesting novelty, but don't expect anyone to adopt it over the traditional methods they already use.
